And they’re off! The Wixom Downtown Development Authority (DDA) will host its annual Derby Day races on Saturday, May 7th at Sibley Square Park located in heart of downtown Wixom. The 2022 Derby Day races will utilize a new 5K and 10K routes that takes participants along the Michigan Airline Trail, which is part of the Great Lake to Lake Trial. The 1 Mile Fun Run will lead participants through our beautiful downtown neighborhoods. Children will have fun on the Tot-Trot course located as well.
All participants will receive a complimentary Derby Day wristband, finishing medal, and t-shirts. One must register by April 13, 2022. Stay after the race and enjoy downtown Wixom. Show your wristband at participating businesses to take advantage of the Derby Day specials being offered.
Your participation will help support Camp Casey. $5.00 from each registration will help fund Horsey House Calls, Cowboy Campouts, and Outlaw Outings. Camp Casey brings the healing power of horses to children fighting cancer and rare blood disorders. To learn more about Camp Casey, please visit their website, https://camp-casey.org/
For this event, runners and walkers will have a 5-minute window to start each race. All finish times will be based on chip time, so your time will not start until you personally cross the starting line.
To limit face-to-face exposure, packet pick up will begin one hour before the first race start time. All packets will be coordinated labeled with each participant’s name and in alphabetical order at the race site.
We will be working closely with the city to implement all necessary Covid measures to have a safe in-person event. Modifications may include removal of post race activities, wave starts, and modified courses. We cannot predict what May will look like in terms of the current pandemic, but we are committed to doing everything we can to host a live event. Please make sure you are aware of our refund policy prior to signing up. We hope to see everyone in May!
