The Thunder Bay Folk Festival is a weekend event held at the Alpena Antique Tractor Showgrounds located at 6850 French Rd, Alpena, Michigan.
This is truly a family-friendly event with something for everyone. We have Musicians jamming in the jam tent, or around their campsites on Friday and Live Music on Saturday.
Our goal is to put on a first-class music festival right here in NE Michigan. We book popular bands from around the state and occasionally have artists from as far away as Chicago. Another goal was to provide a venue for our many, many talented musicians close by to perform, and with that in mind, we always have a fine selection of these local artists.
Musical genres range from 60’s folk/rock, bluegrass, country, faux-grass, blues, and always great dance tunes. Don’t let the title “folk” confuse you. We feel that folk music encompasses all these genres and more!
Ask a dozen people what “Folk music” is and you’ll get a dozen different answers. Come and join us for our Annual Thunder Bay Folk Festival!
Our view is that we want to involve and engage a large variety of people with different musical tastes and interests. At our Thunder Bay Folk Festival, you will experience a myriad of music, such as Bluegrass, String Band Music, Singer/Songwriters, Jug Bands, Gospel Groups, Dance Bands, Contmeporary Roots Music, as well as up-and-coming bands with exciting new music waiting to be defined!
For music lovers of all kinds, this is a music festival you won't want to miss!
